A man and his soon-to-be stepson drive across the country to scatter the ashes of their dead dog. Along the way they'll attempt to become family or at least try to live with each other.
Pickle follows the story of Oscar, an over-eager man who's looking forward to the new family in his life after much loss. His only obstacle is Cooper, the son of his fiancé Molly. Cooper isn't adapting to the changes as fast as they're coming, particularly moving across the country for Oscar's new job. Continuing to drag his feet as much as possible, Cooper just wants to keep things the same, much to Oscar's chagrin.
With Oscar willing to do anything to make this new arrangement work, it might take a really large event to finally get his attention. Or perhaps the death of a small 14-year-old, frail, furry one named Pickle.
